Home-based learning for latest school term on Malaysia: Education minister

All schools on Malaysia will perform home-based teaching and learning for the new school term start mid-June.
In a press meeting on Sunday (Jun 6), Minister for Education Mohd Radzi Md Jidin said the decision was made after considering the current COVID-19 situation.
Students in Malaysia are now on a good two-week mid-year break. The new university term will get started on Jun 13 or Jun 14, depending on says, for 25 schooling times.
"This approach may also connect with all private, foreign and expatriate colleges registered with the Ministry of Education, based on their very own schooling calendar," Dr Mohd Radzi said.

Dr Mohd Radzi likewise announced that the 2021 written examinations for the Malaysian Education Certificate (SPM), which is the same as the O-Levels, have already been delayed to March following year.
For the next school term starting towards the end of July, the ministry can make an announcement at least seven days before institutions reopen, the senior minister said.

Health Ministry director-general Noor Hisham Abdullah said 27 children, including 19 below age five, needed to be warded found in intensive attention between January to May, up from eight situations last year.

Touching upon the distribution of 150,000 notebook computers to economically disadvantaged pupils, Dr Mohd Radzi said the Cerdik Initiative has distributed 12,887 laptops to 95 schools found in 51 education districts nationwide.
The programme is a joint effort by the finance and education ministries.
"Another 40,290 models are anticipated to be distributed newest by Jun 12. We are along the way of distributing these systems."
"The rest of the 96,823 will be written by the finish of September," he said.
