Hyundai Presents Future Vision at Las Vegas Expo
Hyundai unveiled a concept for a flying car at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas on Monday. It was part of its future vision for the next 10 years which also includes self-driving shuttles.

Hyundai floated an idea for an aerial vehicle called "S-A1" capable of vertical takeoff and landing that does not require a runway and can run on autopilot. It would be quiet enough to operate as an urban mobility solution and carry up to four passengers.

Uber took part in designing the concept and hopes to use it on ride-sharing services starting in 2023. But Hyundai says it will probably take a while longer until commercialization.

Hyundai chief Chung Eui-sun said he aims to sell the flying car "both overseas and at home" from around 2028, supposing legal and other issues can be ironed out.

Toyota also unveiled its blueprint for the future by building a whole experimental city in the foothills of Mt. Fuji, with construction starting in 2021. The Japanese automaker calls it "Woven City" with interwoven networks of robotics, autonomous driving and other artificial intelligence systems.
