01 April, 2019
Hyundai's Ioniq hatchback was named the most energy efficient electric vehicle in the U.S.
The Environmental Protection Agency said Sunday the Ioniq has the highest fuel economy among EVs with 136 miles per gallon equivalent (MPGe), which translates into a car that can travel to 57.8 km per liter.
The hatchback has topped the list in terms of fuel economy since its launch there in 2017.
Two versions of Tesla's Model 3 sedan took the next slots.
Hyundai's compact Kona SUV, which was rolled out there in February, came fourth, followed by Chevrolet's Bolt hatchback and Volkswagen's Golf hatchback, which tied for fifth.
