If You Have A Damaged Or Old iPhone 6 Plus, Apple May Give You An iPhone 6s Plus For Free
24 January, 2018
Apple iPhone 6 Plus users, there's some good news for all of you. Imagine going to get your iPhone's battery replaced and you end up coming back with an upgraded iPhone itself!
This isn't a fanciful story, but something that Apple's actively advocating, according to an internal memo it sent out to Apple authorised service providers, where some older iPhone 6 Plus models can be bumped up to newer iPhone 6s Plus models.
Why is Apple being so generous, you may ask? Well, because it's struggling to make amends -- specifically replace diminishing battery stocks for the iPhone 6 Plus. At least that's what we think. Here's how...
Ever since Apple admitted to slowing down older iPhones to supposedly preserve the battery life, customers were livid. Ever since, the company has been trying to make amends, and trying to make a peace offering of discounted battery replacements. Soon news emerged that Apple won't have enough replacement batteries for iPhone 6 Plus in stock until late March or even early April of 2018. And that’s just the estimate for iPhone 6 Plus owners in the US. For others in India and Asia, that wait might be even longer.
Maybe Apple doesn't have enough iPhone 6 Plus battery stock, but has sufficient 6s Plus stocks to substitute the devices entirely. It's better than making people wait for months, isn't it? Customers will obviously like the move.
Apple hasn't specifically mentioned which iPhone 6 Plus models are eligible for the free iPhone 6s Plus upgrade, according to the internal memo procured by MacRumors. But it's worth trying your luck anyway.
So, if you have an eligible iPhone 6 Plus which is covered under the battery replacement program, drop by your local Apple service center and ask some questions. Maybe, just maybe, you will walk away with a brand new iPhone 6s Plus instead!
