Koeman Speaks On Messi After Transfer Saga
New FC Barcelona mentor Ronald Koeman has, for the very first time, commented in Lionel Messi after the superstar's transfer saga.

The Dutchman, who took over from Quique Setien previous month, has been tasked with revamping an ageing squad.

He experienced his initial Barca crisis almost immediately when Messi announced he wanted to leave the Blaugrana, before eventually making a U-move on his decision because the club didn't want to now let him depart free of charge.

With the Argentine having returned to training this week, Koeman has broken his silence on the 33-year-old.

"It's great, everyone understands he's the best player in the world, so to have that player in your crew is exceptional," Koeman told the club's official webpage on Friday, speaking for the very first time since the Messi saga began.

"For all of us, it's now very vital that you have Leo found in the very best conditions to play, there is no question about his quality and it's really fantastic that he'll participate the growing season with Barcelona, everyone is very happy about this."

Koeman also addressed his first two weeks along with his new squad, praising his players because of their work ethic.

"They are very positive. We're two weeks in and the players will work perfectly," he added.

"You will find a good degree of intensity in training, to start with with the fitness area in the beginning weeks, and today with tactics.

"The players have proven a whole lot of spirit, interest and intensity, and that's the main thing, because, for me, you have to train how you play.

"It is rather important and We am happy with the work that the team did over these fourteen days."
