Korea Files Suit Against U.S. at WTO
23 February, 2018
The government has filed a lawsuit against the U.S. with the World Trade Organization. The WTO said Wednesday that the Korean government filed the suit last week claiming unfair trade practices by Washington, which slapped massive anti-dumping tariffs on Korean steel and transformers.
The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy said the U.S.' reasoning that Korean businesses allegedly did not submit enough data or did not cooperate with its investigations violates WTO regulations.
The government plans to file another lawsuit against the U.S. at the WTO next month over new safeguards against Korean washing machines and solar panels. Last week, the U.S. slapped tariffs of up to 50 percent on them, claiming they have a negative impact on U.S. industries.
