Result: Liverpool 3-0 Brentford

Venue: Anfield
Reds boss Jurgen Klopp made two changes to his side with Curtis Jones and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain replacing James Milner and Takumi Minamino. Meanwhile, Brentford coach Thomas Frank made one alteration with Sergi Canos dropping out and Rico Henry coming in.
Liverpool had the first chance of the match with just over ten minutes gone when Diogo Jota headed just over from Oxlade-Chamberlain's cross. Soon after, the ball fell to Alexander-on the edge of the box and his drilled effort went inches wide of the top right corner.
Klopp's men were piling on the pressure and next Virgil van Dijk controlled a corner to the back post and fired towards the bottom right corner but it was brilliantly saved by the legs of Brentford goalkeeper Alvaro Fernandez.
The Anfield outfit grabbed the lead just before half-time when Alexander-Arnold's corner found its way to the back post through a crowd of bodies and Fabinho glanced the ball into the corner of the net.
Jota brought another fine save out of Fernandez before the Bees should have equalised when Mbeumo swivelled on the edge of the penalty and his powerful shot went just wide of the left post. Liverpool were only prevented from having a comfortable lead by the heroics of Fernandez as next Jota was sent through on goal by Roberto Firmino but saw his effort superbly by the Brentford shot-stopper, who had spread himself well.
Oxlade-Chamberlain gave Liverpool a two-goal cushion in the 69th minute when Andy Robertson delivered a beauty from the left-hand side and Oxlade-Chamberlain got himself between two defenders and headed past a helpless Fernandez for his second goal of the season.
Minamino replaced Oxlade-Chamberlain in the 75th minute and made an instant impact by grabbing Liverpool's third. Fernandez played a suicidal short pass to Norgaard on the edge of the penalty box and Firmino intercepted before laying it off to Minamino, who had a simple finish from close range to put the icing on the cake for the Reds.
