Lukaku Makes Transfer Decision After Tuchel Fallout
05 January, 2022
Following his apparent fallout with Thomas Tuchel at Chelsea, Romelu Lukaku has reportedly made a big decision on his future relating to the current January transfer window.
The Belgian found himself in hot water last week when controversial comments he made in an interview with an Italian outlet emerged.
In the interview, which was later published in full, Lukaku seemed to suggest he was unhappy in England and that he was eager to return to Inter Milan well before he passes his peak.
His remarks appeared to show his displeasure at being left on the bench after returning from injury and illness last month, with Tuchel responding by dropping the striker from his match-day squad this past weekend.
Given the seriousness of the situation, which reportedly involves certain senior players also feeling aggrieved by Lukaku’s actions, rumours suggested he could seek to leave the Blues in this window.
According to Fabrizio Romano, however, the 28-year-old has made it clear to Tuchel that he has no intentions of pushing for an exit this month.
Since returning to the Stamford Bridge-based club, Lukaku has struggled to find consistency due to spells on the sidelines with an ankle sprain and Covid-19.
The ex-Manchester United forward has scored just seven times in 18 matches across all competitions so far, assisting a further two goals.
