Michael Carrick took the surprise decision to drop Ronaldo as Marcus Rashford and Bruno Fernandes returned to the starting line-up, while Romelu Lukaku returned to the matchday squad for the Blues.

United, meanwhile, were quite happy to sit back and soak up three pressure with but they were unable to launch any counter-attacks with the pace of Rashford and Jadon Sancho.
The Blues nearly got their reward on 30 minutes when Antonio Rudiger rattled the crossbar with a powerful effort from distance that left De Gea with no chance.
However, that all changed four minutes into the second half when a poor touch from Jorginho allowed Sancho to go clear and goal and slot past Edouard Mendy for his league goal.
