Lukaku Sends A NOTE To Zlatan After Inter Comeback
10 February, 2020
After Inter Milan originated from two goals right down to beat AC Milan 4-2 in Serie A on Sunday night, striker Romelu Lukaku seemed to throw a jibe at his former Manchester United teammate Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
The away side went into half-time two goals to the nice, after strikes in the 40th and 45th minute from Ante Rebic and 38-year-old Ibrahimovic.
Following the break, however, the Nerazzurri came out with purpose, drawing level with their city rivals significantly less than 10 minutes following the restart because of goals from Marcelo Brozovic and Matias Vecino.
Defender Stefan de Vrij then put Antonio Conte’s side ahead a quarter-hour later, before the game was sealed in stoppage time by Lukaku, who got on the end of a Victor Moses cross.
Taking to Twitter following the game, the Belgian striker, who has enjoyed a brilliant debut campaign in Italy, dubbed himself “the brand new King of Milan”, which many have interpreted as a jibe towards his former United colleague.
Ibrahimovic has often described himself and been known as the “king of Milan”, although message from Lukaku will probably have already been sent with tongue in cheek, considering the healthy relationship that they had at United.
Lukaku praised Ibrahimovic as recently as a week ago, labelling the towering Swede a “champion” in an interview before the Milan derby.
