Man City Begin Carabao Cup Defence With Emphatic Win
Manchester City 6-1 Wycombe Wanderers

Defending champions Manchester City rallied from behind to thrash Wycombe Wanderers 6-1 at the Etihad on Tuesday evening.

The League One side took a surprising lead through Brandaon Hanlan on 22 minutes, but they weren't ahead for too long as Kevin de Bruyne brought City level seven minutes later.

Riyad Mahrez went on to grab a brace while Phil Foden, Ferran Torres and Cole Palmer completed the rout.

Norwich City 3-0 Liverpool

Liverpool cruised to the next round of the League Cup with a 3-0 thrashing of Norwich City at Carrow Road.

Jurgen Klopp rotated his side as expected, with Divock Origi, Takumi Minamino, Joe Gomez and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain getting starts.

Minamino made the most of his chance after finding the back of the net twice for first goals of the season, before Divock Origi got on the scoresheet in the second half.

Sheffield United 2-2 Southampton (2-4 on penalties)

Southampton advanced to the next round after defeating Sheffield United 4-2 on penalties after it ended 2-2 after regulation time.

Ibrahima Diallo and Mohamed Salisu were on target for the Saints to cancel out Enda Stevens' opener, but the game went to penalties after Ollie McBurnie's equaliser in the 66th minute.

Queens Park Rangers 2-2 Everton (8-7 on penalties)

Everton were bundled out of the League Cup after a penalty shoot-out loss to Queens Park Rangers.

Charlie Austin bagged a brace for the hosts after Lucas Digne and Andros Townsend netted for the Toffees, as the game went to penalties.

The Championship side held their nerve to claim an 8-7 win in sudden death to secure their spot in the next round.

Burnley 4-1 Rochdale

Burnley avoided a surprise cup exit after coming from behind to defeat Rochdale 4-1 at Turf Moore.

Jay Rodriguez was the hero for the Clarets after bagging four goals on the night to cancel out Jake Beesley's early strike.
