Date: 14 April 2021

Manchester City closed out a 2-1 victory on the night and a 4-2 aggregate make an impression on Borussia Dortmund to advance to the UEFA Champions League semi-finals.

Oleksandr Zinchenko replaced Joao Cancelo in manager Pep Guardiola's only change to the town starting line-up from the win over the Borussians last week, but there have been seven alterations altogether from the weekend's defeat to Leeds United in the Premier League.

Dortmund fielded the same side as last Tuesday but there have been two changes from the medial side that played against Stuttgart at the weekend, with Emre Can and Ansgar Knauff coming into the side.

City started positively but Dortmund were also slick in possession, with Mahmoud Dahoud going close with an early opening although Ederson was readily available to help make the save.

Dortmund did manage to take  the lead in the 15th minute through Jude Bellingham, who fired past Ederson after picking right up the ball on the edge of the box.

Kevin de Bruyne went near bagging the equaliser on 25 minutes, but his fierce effort rebounded off the woodwork.

The Citizens got their reward ten minutes in to the second half as Mahrez equalised via the penalty spot after Emre Can was adjudged to have handled in the region.

The turnaround was complete with quarter-hour left on the clock as Phil Foden sent a minimal shot  past Marwin Hitz off the near post to place the visitors ahead on the night time and 4-2 on aggregate.

And in the long run, Guardiola's side cruised through to the last four and stick to track for an elusive maiden Champions League title.
