Brighton and Hove Albion moved seven factors free from the relegation zone found in the Premier League table after playing to a good goalless draw with Everton on Mon evening.
Brighton were unchanged from the medial side that narrowly lost to Manchester United, with Percy Tau even so out of the side as the Toffees were without Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Andre Gomes, handing recalls to Gylfi Sigurdsson and Ben Godfrey.
The hosts were in the front foot in early stages as Danny Welbeck had an excellent chance to provide them the lead in 16th minute following getting on of a cross by Adam Lallana, but he produced a tame shot that was parried away by goalkeeper Robin Olsen.
The chances continued to fall for the hosts after Leandro Trossard does well to tee up Neil Maupay, who saw his goal-bound effort blocked by Yerry Mina.
Graham Potter's charges continued pinning back Everton to their own half but they lacked the finishing touches within the box while nonetheless they were denying the guests possibilities on the break seeing as the primary stanza ended goalless.
Everton continued to soak up the pressure early in the second stanza and Carlo Ancelotti was forced to produce a change right before the hour-tag after Mina went down with injury but he took the possibility to make a tactical tweak, as he broughton Alex Iwobi rather than a like-for-like defender.
The Toffees found life after that as James Rodriguez came near breaking the deadlock within the last 19 minutes after beating his marker and unleashed a looping strike that was parried away by shot-stopper Robert Sanchez.
Maupay had a large prospect to snatch the champion for Brighton in the last 14 moments after going crystal clear on goal from Yves Bissouma's through ball but he guided his shot high and wide, with only Olsen to beat in the centre of the box.
Despite the late force from Brighton, goalless was how the encounter finished, with the Seagulls going seven points free from the relegation area in 15th place while Everton stay in eighth place.
