Meet up with the selfless Saudi volunteer determined to stay in the UAE until Covid-19 fight is won
When Abdurrahman Al Magrani landed in Dubai from Saudi Arabia on the subject of March 14 this past year, he designed to stay for simply a matter of days to visit his three children.

But as Covid-19 infections soared across the globe and air travel was first grounded to limit its spread, he - like millions of others - found 2020 had something altogether unique in store for him.

A brief visit has stretched into an 11-month stay that he has vowed won't end before pandemic has been overcome.

As Mr Al Magrani was unable to return residence to Riyadh due to the flight ban, he shed his task with a genuine estate company in Riyadh.

But he was grateful to find his true calling in helping the UAE's fight the coronavirus.

Within a week of arriving in Dubai, he started to volunteer at Covid-19 screening centres.

Since that time, he has clocked up a lot more than 3,000 time welcoming sufferers, taking their temperature and guiding them through assessment procedures.

“In Ramadan, I had an opportunity to go back home, but I did not need to,” he said.

“Because of the beautiful values I have experienced during the fight against Covid-19, I vowed to remain until wellbeing officials announce the pandemic is over.

“If I had opted back again to Riyadh when I had the chance, I might have already been able to secure a fresh job, but I preferred to remain here and continue fighting the virus,” he said.

He said he was touched incidentally the UAE federal government had handled the pandemic, and the way the leaders supported those found in need.

“This really influenced me. Particularly when the UAE was the initial country to step up and bring a huge selection of stranded college students from Wuhan to Abu Dhabi.”
