Mobile App Toss Valued at W8.2 Trillion

Mobile finance application Toss' corporate value has been assessed at W8.2 trillion (US$1=W1,137).
Viva Republica, which owns Toss, said Wednesday that the app has won a W460 billion investment from state-run Korea Development Bank and U.S. private equity funds Alkeon Capital Management and Altos Ventures.
The investors assessed Toss' corporate value at W8.2 trillion, up 2.6 times from August of last year.
Toss, which started with money transfer services, is set to open its online-only bank and brokerage in September. "We will offer wholly customer-focused services," Toss CEO Lee Seung-gun said.
