Nexon Hikes Give to Attract Top Talent
03 February, 2021
Game developer Nexon is bucking the global pattern to depress wages and has announced a considerable pay raise.
The game maker on Monday said it has upgraded its wage system to strengthen global competitiveness and secure excellent human resources.
The entry-level earnings has been set at W50 million a year for developers and W45 million for non-developers from this year (US$1=W1,117).
That's W8 million more than the prior year and way greater than the average starting wage of W33.5 million in large companies with 500 or more staff.
Nexon will also improve the twelve-monthly salaries of existing senior staff by W8 million, making for a company-wide ordinary increase rate of 13 percent.
A company spokesman said, "We may also pay reasonable incentives to individuals and departments who achieve great results to maximize their motivation."
Nexon had 5,000 staff in Korea by 2019, but that's likely to rise to more than 6,000 this year.
Your choice comes amid fierce competition in the global gaming industry, which makes it ever more vital that you attract talent.
Korean game companies are threatened by Chinese rivals with enormous capital, great recruiting and cutting-edge technology.
