Nike and LeBron James collaborate on an Air Max 1, an homage to the Liverpool Club
It’s no secret that LeBron James is a big football fan—or soccer fan, to use the American term.
What is not as well known, however, is that James is also a minority shareholder in
Liverpool football club. Score!

King James (to use his unofficial NBA title) is now using his ongoing partnership with Nike (the team at Nike creates his basketball kicks and he has multiple collaborative sneaks with the Oregon-based brand) to publicly declare his love for Reds with the LeBron x Nike Air Max 1 Liverpool. The limited edition shoes, which will surely pique the interest of Liverpool FC fans, feature the colours of the team coached by Jurgen Klopp and they are rumoured to be released in December.

The new shoes were born from the mind of designer Tinker Hatfield, the man behind such iconic Nike sneakers as the Air Jordan 3 and Air Max 1, who used white mesh on the base and then used black leather around the entire lower part of the shoe as well as for the side swoosh. The white returns on the midsole and offers an appreciable contrast with the two-tone green elements. The bubble, which is an integral part of the Air Max 1's sole, is dressed in a red colour that connects to the red of the lining and the insole, which is embossed with the Liverpool FC and LeBron James logos. All of these colours work together perfectly along with the dark green leather insert.

The initials FSG, for Fenway Sports Group (the owners of the Liverpool FC), are placed on the heel of the left shoe, while YNWA, which stands for ‘You'll Never Walk Alone’, the famous anthem of the club's supporters, sits on the right one. Finally, in order to satisfy sneaker enthusiasts, the shoes will be delivered in a special, one-off box created for this release.
