One for Instagram: Dubai's first selfie museum is now open
08 January, 2020
Are you ready for a selfie? A new space, featuring 15 pop-up rooms filled with vibrant but differing backdrops and props, has opened in Motor City. Called The Selfie Kingdom, it claims to be Dubai’s “first ever dedicated selfie museum.”
The range of backdrops on offer includes Insta-friendly unicorns, cherry blossoms (who needs to go to Japan in spring, really?) and angel wings. To avoid things getting stale, and entice you back, no doubt, the rooms will be redesigned every few months to provide a fresh immersive photo experience. In addition, it will also host other exhibitions and installations from other artists.
“The Selfie Kingdom contributes to the spirit of the UAE,” said Rania Naffa, chief happiness officer and founder. “TSK provides an interactive photo-friendly social space that promotes art, creativity and a place for our guests to express themselves freely and have fun while doing it. We want everyone to be part of this entertaining experience and create some amazing memories.”
The attraction currently has a special admission price of Dh55 per adult per hour (down from the normal Dh65) until the end of February. Admission for children is Dh45 per hour (for children aged 3 to 12). Those looking to take get extra-special photos taken (and don't mind paying for them) can hire a professional photographer for an extra Dh750 per hour while booking tickets.
