Over 2 Million Workers Are Members of Unions

The number of members of labor union exceeded 2 million for the first time ever in 2017, according to figures released by the Ministry of Employment and Labor on Thursday.
The government started to compile relevant data in 1977.
As of the end of last year, 2.09 million out of Korea's 19.56 million-strong eligible workforce had joined a union, up 121,000 or 6.2 percent from the previous year.
The unionization rate also rose 0.4 percentage point to 10.7 percent.
