Record-breaking numbers: 500,000 people will fly into Dubai airport in the next 11 days
Emirates is expecting its busiest period ever as hundreds of thousands of passengers are set to arrive in Dubai this month following the summer break.

The airline has issued an alert to warn of increasing passenger numbers, with more than 500,000 passengers set to jet into Dubai airport before the start of September.

The start of a new season along with the end of the Eid break will see passenger numbers reach an all-time high, Emirates predicts.

“With another record breaking period coming up when it comes to passenger arrivals, we want to ensure that Emirates customers coming back to Dubai have the best experience possible starting from disembarkation through to every touchpoint and have positioned extra resources to ensure a speedy arrival journey,” says Mohammed Mattar, divisional senior vice president of Emirates Airport Services.

The airline says it has a number of initiatives in place to ensure passengers can arrive in the airport without any stress or elongated wait times.

Extra resources are being brought in to handle the half-a-million bags the airline is set to process during this period, while smart gates will allow many passengers to clear immigration quickly with their Emirates ID (some passport holders can also register to use the smart gates, you can do so with an immigration officer upon exiting or entering the UAE). You can book Emirates's home delivery service if you want you luggage cleared, retrieved and delivered to your home.

Emirates adds that passengers travelling into Dubai can access the metro directly from the arrivals area of Terminal 3, alongside a taxi rank making onward transit as easy as possible. The metro run from 5am to midnight Saturday to Thursday, and from 10am to 1am on Friday.

Also, remember that if you see a long line for taxis on your arrival, you can book a Careem or Uber from the airport, which is likely to be a faster process. Careem drivers now actually come and wait for you in arrivals, holding a sign with your name on it: it feels really quite VIP.

First and business class passengers can, of course, access the free chauffeur drive service upon clearing customs.

For families, baby strollers are available on arrival at every Emirates gate, placed in special cupboards so that customers can quickly identify them.
