Redress Style Award to provide the winner a good collaboration with Timberland

Sustainable fashion competition, Redress Design Award has opened up applications for 2021 and has declared career-changing prizes including an opportunity to collaborate with Timberland in a design project, and also win 50,000 Hong Kong dollars.
Organised by environmental charity Redress with Generate Hong Kong of the federal government of the Hong Kong Distinctive Administrative Region when the lead sponsor, the Redress Pattern Award challenges trend designers to showcase sustainable, impressive and textile waste-reducing patterns.
Because of its 11th year, Redress Design Award will award the first prize winner with 50,000 Hong Kong dollars (6,400 US dollars) as development funding, in addition to a high-performance lockstitch equipment and an overlock sewing equipment from Juki. In addition, the winner will join VF Corporation’s Timberland staff to collaborate on a design and style project and work closely with VF’s sustainability and responsibility workforce to get exciting insights from across the source chain from sourcing to merchandise creation, while deepening their expertise and understanding around sustainable development and marketing.
The Timberland prize partnership forms part of a wider long-term strategic relationship between the Redress Style Award and VF and marks the 3rd year that the style and lifestyle brand has been associated with the competition.
The partnership may also include a style challenge for all ten finalists soon after this season plus collaboration on key content around circular design doing his thing for the Redress Style Award 2021 open access Learn platform, organisers added.

The Runner-up and Hong Kong Best winners of the 2021 Redress Design Award will each receive 15,000 Hong Kong dollars (1,900 US dollars) as creation funding, and a sewing equipment from Juki.
Emerging designers, with less than several years professional experience, have until March 15 to apply straight to the Redress Design Award 2021 competition.
Thirty semi-finalists will be announced on April 22, accompanied by ten finalists in May 13. The finalists will show their selections in Hong Kong in early on September at the livestreamed Grand Final Show, where the winners will be announced.
This season the judging panel includes Orsola de Castro, fashion designer, co-founder of Estethica and co-founder of Fashion Revolution, who'll turn into a mentor to the runner-up, alongside Desiree Au, founding publisher of Vogue Hong Kong, Angus Tsui, imaginative director, and alumnus, Redress Design Award, and Kriti Tula, co-founder and innovative director of Doodlage.
