Ride-Hailing Service TADA Raises Fares
21 October, 2019
Ride-hailing app TADA will raise its fares next month as it announced earlier amid pressure from the government and the established taxi lobby.
TADA operator VCNC said on Friday that it decided to raise the basic fare by W800 to W4,800 from Nov. 18 "to avoid competing with regular taxis (US$1=W1,181)."
In the initial stage of its service, TADA set its fares about 30 percent higher than regular taxis, but the gap narrowed after taxi fares increased early this year. This resulted in more people choosing TADA vans, which charge similar fares but offer better services, drawing more ire from taxi drivers.
