Ronaldo Linked With Three Clubs After 'Exit Request'
04 July, 2022
Cristiano Ronaldo has been linked with three clubs since he reportedly told Manchester United he wants to leave the Red Devils in this transfer window.
Over the weekend, it was claimed the 37-year-old communicated his desire to move on from the struggling English giants ahead of the coming season following the team's disappointing 2021/22 campaign.
As per football transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, the five-time Ballon d'Or winner has been disappointed by United's lack of movement in the window, but the club insist they do not want to sell him.
Ronaldo, who has a year remaining on his contract in England, is said to have attracted interest from a number of teams across Europe since the news of his wish to leave broke, with Chelsea, Napoli and Bayern Munich reportedly keeping tabs on his situation. This is according to The Athletic, who claim the former Real Madrid and Juventus forward wants to continue playing at the highest level after United failed to qualify for a place in next season's UEFA Champions League.
Following his arrival at Old Trafford, new manager Erik ten Hag said he was looking forward to working with Ronaldo, while the player himself has previously made comments to suggest he was happy at the club.
Ronaldo scored 24 goals across all competitions last season after making a stunning return to United in August 2021.
