Salah Receives 'Final' Contract Answer From Liverpool
It is claimed that Mohamed Salah has received a "final" answer from Liverpool in response to his reported wage demands.

With it looking like Senegalese winger Sadio Mane is on his way out of the club, attention seems to have turned to 29-year-old Salah, who also faces an uncertain future at the Reds.

The Egypt international's current contract in England expires in 2023, and, while he has said he will be at the club for the 2022/23 season, it remains unclear as to whether or not he will extend his stay on new terms. According to a report in the Daily Mirror, Liverpool have "hit their ceiling" in talks with Salah, who is reportedly asking to be paid £400 000 (R7.8 million) a week.

It is believed the former Roma wide man is demanding to earn money that would put him in line with the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Kevin De Bruyne, although his desire to do so does not match the Reds' wage structure.

While it is widely accepted that Salah is well within his rights to request a bigger weekly wage, senior figures at Liverpool are reportedly unwilling to compromise their salary make-up for the Pharaohs talisman, who has a year left on his deal.

There is said to be a feeling that matching Salah's demands could do more harm than good at the club, with defender Virgil van Dijk currently the team's highest-paid player on £220 000 (R3.9 million) a week.

Salah scored 31 goals and assisted a further 16 strikes in 51 matches across all competitions for the Merseysiders last season.
