Samsung Electronics Named World's Best Employer
19 October, 2020
Samsung Electronics tops this year's list of the World's Best Employers by Forbes magazine.
The Korean electronics giant shot up from the also-rans at 106th this past year in the total annual rankings of big multinational corporations published the other day.
The second was Amazon despite reported exploitative conditions in its warehouses, followed by IBM, Microsoft, LG, Apple, Adobe, Google parent company Alphabet, Siemens, and Bosch.
Forbes ranked the companies predicated on surveys of 160,000 employees in 58 countries in June and July of the year. It asked them about their employer's image, monetary footprint, talent development, gender equality, and social responsibility.
It also took into account evaluations of rival companies and whether employees would recommend the firms to family and friends.
Employee satisfaction with their employer's response to the coronavirus pandemic was also one factor in this year's survey.
Samsung rose to the top spot largely because of its effective COVID-19 response. The business swiftly shut down factories and implemented flexible working conditions to manage the impact.
This past year, no Korean company ranked among the top 100, but this season 12 Korean companies made the cut. Naver ranked 37th, Amore Pacific 42nd, Korea National Oil Corporation 62nd, CJ 64th, Nongshim 72nd, NCsoft 73rd, Mando 74th, Hyundai Motor 80th, and SK Group 88th.
