Six Brazilian Footballers Who Faced Jail Time
While Ronaldinho made headlines for all the wrong reasons after his recent arrest, the Brazil legend is not the first star from the united states to fall foul of regulations.

After spending greater than a month in a Paraguayan prison, Ronaldinho and his brother Roberto Assis were released into house arrest on Tuesday evening right after paying a reported $1.6 million (R29 million) in combined bail fees.

The pair will remain under lockdown until investigations into their illegal entry into the country with fake passports, and subsequent allegations of involvement in a money-laundering scheme, are concluded.

Ronaldinho isn't the first high-profile player from Brazil to fall short of regulations, however, as is most beneficial illustrated by the arrest and sentencing of all-time great Pele's own son, Edinho, on money-laundering and drug-trafficking charges.

Former Inter Milan star Adriano was also arrested in relation to drug-trafficking offences this year 2010, however the charges were dropped four years later because of insufficient evidence without the ex-Selecao spending any moment in prison.

Robinho, who is among only seven players to have won 100 or even more caps for Brazil, was sentenced to nine years in prison in Italy after being found guilty of rape. The 36-year-old currently plies his trade in Turkey with Istanbul Basaksehir while he awaits the outcome of his appeal.

Former Bayern Munich defender Breno spent nearly two years in prison for arson after burning down the villa he was surviving in at the time, as the similarly named Bruno was sentenced to 22 years in prison in Brazil for assault, torture and murder.
