South Korea reported 93 new coronavirus cases on Wednesday (Mar 18), maintaining a downward craze in daily infections, but concerns about new outbreaks around little clusters persisted.
The daily tally marked the fourth day in a row that the country has posted fewer than 100 latest infections, although slightly up from 84 recorded your day before, according to the Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (KCDC).
It brought South Korea's total attacks to 8,413, the KCDC said. The loss of life toll rose by three to 84.
The downward trend in overall infections has raised hopes that Asia's major epidemic outside China could be abating, but authorities expressed concerns about small clusters of infections reported in the last few weeks.
Of the brand new cases, 46 were from the hardest-hit city of Daegu in which a new outbreak emerged from a nursing home, although the KCDC didn't specify just how many cases were traced compared to that facility.
Authorities have launched comprehensive checks on thousands of "high-risk" services, including assisted living facilities, hospitals, call centres, pc cafes and karaoke pubs in a good bid to control the epidemic.
Scores of events - from K-pop concerts to athletics matches - have already been cancelled or perhaps postponed above the contagion, and President Moon Jae-found in announced Tuesday the forming of an emergency monetary council.
