The Top League Goalscorers In 2019, African Star Beats Messi
With 2019 about to come to a close, here are the 10 top goalscorers across all first divisions in the world! While FC Barcelona's Lionel Messi is near the summit, a certain African striker pipped him to the top spot.

It was yet another spectacular year for Messi in LaLiga, the division in which he holds the record of being the highest goalscorer and assist-provider of all time.

The 32-year-old struck 34 times in the Spanish top flight over the course of 2019, a number he achieved playing just 32 matches. The Argentine, however, does not hold the top spot globally, having been beaten by Al-Nassr FC forward Abderazak Hamdallah.

The 29-year-old Moroccan scored one more goal than the Blaugrana striker did for his Saudi Arabia-based side, doing so in an incredible 25 games.

Tied with Messi is MLS star Carlos Vela, who found the back of the net on 34 occasions in the calendar year for Los Angeles FC, scoring four more times than fourth-placed Paris Saint-Germain superstar Kylian Mbappe.

Erik Sorga, who represents Flora Tallinn in Estonia, also scored 31 times in 2019, as did Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski.
