Will Smith reveals he will star in 'I Am Legend 2' alongside Michael B. Jordan

'I Am Legend 2' will happen, but now we know more details of what will happen in the second installment of the hit film.
Will Smith, who starred in the first film and will be in the sequel, spoke about the upcoming project at the Red Sea International Film Festival in Saudi Arabia, noting that along with him will be Michael B. Jordan.
"I have a meeting with Michael B. Jordan very soon. The script is about ready. I'm probably giving away too much information...," he noted.
He also explained how it is possible that his character, Robert Neville, is alive, since he is supposed to die at the end of the film: "You have to be a real fan of 'I Am Legend' to know this. "In the theatrical version, my character dies, but on the DVD there is an alternate ending where he manages to survive. We're going to explore that version. I can't tell you more, but Michael B. Jordan is in it."
'I Am Legend 2' will be more faithful to the book
The film's screenwriter, Avika Goldsman, has provided the most details on the matter, explaining that the films are based on Richard Matheson's 1954 book of the same name, and in an interview with 'Deadline' he previewed several details of the sequel.
"We go back to Matheson's original book and the alternate ending as opposed to the original one that came out in the movie. Matheson was talking about man's time on the planet as the dominant species had come to an end. That's something really interesting that we're going to explore. There will be more fidelity to the original text," he said.
That said, he added that 'The Last of Us' series has been the motivator for this sequel: "I'm obsessed with 'The Last of Us,' where we see the world right after an apocalypse, but also in a 20-30 year gap. You can see how the earth reclaims the world, and there's something precious about the question of what happens when man ceases to be the main occupant.
"That will be especially visual in New York. I don't know if they'll climb the Empire State Building, but there are endless possibilities."
