Xiaomi to Launch New Smartphone in Korea Next Month
30 October, 2018
China's Xiaomi will begin selling its Pocophone F1 smartphone in Korea next month.
The phone, slated for launch on Nov. 19, is equipped with high-end features but costs less than half as much as premium handsets on the market, the handset maker said at a press conference in Seoul on Monday.
It comes with a cutting-edge Snapdragon 845 processor and boasts 6 GB of memory -- identical specs to Samsung's Galaxy Note 9 released last month.
The Pocophone F1's 4,000 mAh battery is larger than the one in the iPhone XS and enables eight hours of game playing.
But the handset comes without a glass cover and features only one camera on the front and two on the rear, allowing the handset maker to be price competitive, compared to other premium phones.
"We threw out unnecessary functions and maximized ones that meet users' needs," said a Xiaomi staffer.
The phone is priced at W429,000 and available in two colors -- blue and black (US$1=W1,143). Pre-orders start on Nov. 12 through major mobile carriers as well as online shopping malls.
