Manchester United ended Arsenal's perfect start to the Premier League season with a 3-1 victory at Old Trafford on Sunday evening.

Premier League
Result: Manchester United 3-1 Arsenal
Date: 04 September 2022
Venue: Old Trafford

It was the Gunners who had the ball in the back of the net on 12 minutes when Gabriel Martinelli latched onto Bukayo Saka's pass and slotted past David de Gea, but the goal was ruled out by the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) for Martin Odegaard's foul on Eriksen in the build-up.

Martinelli went close to grabbing the opening goal on 31 minutes when Oleksandr Zinchenko's cross found the Brazilian, who saw his header tipped away by De Gea. However, United bagged the opening goal three minutes later as a neat passing move ended with Marcus Rashford playing in Antony, who calmly slotted past Ramsdale on his first appearance for the club.

Arsenal could have equalised six minutes after the break when Jesus slipped past Lisandro Martinez before teeing up Odegaard, who skewed his effort wide of the from 10 yards out.

The visitors did get their reward on the hour mark when Dalot deflected Odegaard's pass into the path of Saka, who sent a first-time finish into the back of the net for his first goal of the season.

Arsenal's joy was short-lived though as Rashford latched onto a superb pass from Bruno Fernandes before firing past Ramsdale for his second goal of the season four minutes later.

Mikel Arteta responded with a triple change for the final 15 minutes as Emile Smith-Rowe, new signing Fabio Vieria and Eddie Nketiah were introduced as they went in search of an equaliser.

However, United got the third goal a minute later as the influential Eriksen managed to break free on goal from Fernandes' pass and unselfishly teed up Rashford for the simple finish.

That goal sealed the win for the Red Devils, who have now won their last four games while the Gunners suffer their first loss of the campaign.
