Serie A
Result: AC Milan 1-1 Inter Milan
Date: 07 November 2021
Venue: San Siro
Five changes for Milan came in Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Rade Krunic, Franck Kessie, Simon Kjaer and Fode Ballo-Toure, with Inter recalling Ivan Perisic and Hakan Calhanoglu from their last match.
Calhanoglu, who joined Inter from Milan during the off season, haunted his ex-employers on ten minutes when he won and converted a penalty-kick following a poor challenge by Kessie.
Milan didn’t trail the host for long though as with 17 minutes played a ball into the area by Sandro Tonali saw Stefan De Vrij head into his own net after an attempted clearance.
The Nerazzurri were presented an opportunity to re-take the lead ten minutes later when Mateo Darmian succumbed to a challenge by Ballo-Toure to win a penalty, which Lautaro Martinez missed.
That missed chance was nearly punished nine minutes towards halftime from a strong close-range strike by Rafael Leao off misplaced possession by Inter.

Inter finished the half strong as Nicolo Barella saw his low shot in the area following a ball from Alessandro Bastoni cleared off the line by Ballo-Toure before Martinez dragged a clear opening wide.
Ballo-Toure’s time was cut short at the restart, with Pierre Kalulu introduced by the Rossoneri whilst Inter remained unchanged.
Inter still enjoyed the lion share of chances minutes in through Edin Dzeko, Martinez and a first- time effort that flew across goal by Calhanoglu, with Milan hanging tight.
The Rossoneri responded and aimed the front later on with a snap volley from a tight angle by Ibrahimovic following a corner-kick, but he went over.
Milan continued to pressurise Inter towards full-time as a low shot from Alexis Saelemaekers hit the foot of the post with Kessie missing the rebound, as it ended all square at the San Siro.
