Amber Heard breaks silence after nearly 200 days: I just don't want so many stones thrown at me
05 July, 2023
fter the storm that was her media trial with Johnny Depp last year, actress Amber Heard broke her silence in an attempt to continue her career and her public image, given that after the litigation, she was singled out as "the bad guy" in the marriage with the 'Pirates of the Caribbean' star.
Heard took advantage of the opportunity to reappear, currently promoting her new film "In the Fire". The movie is set in 1988, where she plays an American psychiatrist, who is determined to solve the case of a boy from Colombia accused of being the devil by the people of a community.
"I'm in control of most of what comes out of my mouth," Heard told Deadline over the weekend. She added: "What I don't control is how my pride in this project and everything we've put into this movie can be surrounded by clips of other things."
She also talked about how difficult it has been for her to deal with the criticism against her following the revelations that came to light in the trial with Depp: "It's something I've had to learn, that I don't control the stories that others create around me. That's something I'll probably appreciate as a blessing down the road," she added.
"Right now, I just don't want so many stones thrown at me. So let's get the elephant out of the room and let me say it. I'm an actress. I'm here to support a movie. And that's not something I can be sued for."
She also spoke of her achievements in acting, assuring that she has 'decades in the industry' that allow her to 'earn respect for being her own thing'.
She added: "That's important enough. What I've been through doesn't make my career at all. And it's certainly not going to stop my career. So let's talk about this movie."

She also made two posts on her social networks, after almost 200 days of silence, again, to talk about the promotion of the film and her participation in the film festival in Italy:
"What a reception... Thank you to all my fans and followers. I'm so touched," Heard wrote in a brief post on Instagram, where a crowd is seen approaching the car where she was traveling to attend the Taormina Film Festival.
It is the first image she has shared on Instagram since December 2022, when she announced that she would not publish for the time being and that her silence was extended for a further period of time. In a second image, Heard appears smiling at a press conference, where she also spoke about the film and the future of her career.
