Apple hires former BMW executive to advance electric car plans
Apple features hired Ulrich Kranz, a former senior executive at BMW’s electric car division, to greatly help lead its vehicle efforts, according to persons familiar with the situation.

The technology giant hired Mr Kranz in recent weeks, in regards to a month after he stepped down as chief executive of Canoo, a developer of self-driving electric vehicles. Before co-founding Canoo, Mr Kranz was senior vice president of the group that developed the i3 and i8 cars at BMW, where he performed for 30 years.

Apple has worked with BMW for quite some time, integrating the iPod with vehicle infotainment systems back 2004 and recently building the iPhone double due to an automobile key. Apple chief executive Tim Cook was spotted looking into a BMW i8 outside Apple’s Cupertino, California, headquarters in 2014, and business executives have been recognized to visit BMW offices in recent years.
