Diamond Princess passenger dies, bringing ship's loss of life toll to seven

A man who had been aboard the Gemstone Princess cruise ship and was contaminated with coronavirus has died, bringing the death toll from the ship to seven, Japanese open public broadcaster NHK said on Saturday (Mar 7).
The man had not been Japanese, NHK said, without giving information on his nationality or age. That would make him the second foreigner from the ship to die, after a British gentleman died last month.
Japan's handling of the outbreak on the blissful luxury cruise ship, which was quarantined in the slot of Yokohama, sparked international criticism and has tarnished what was said to be a triumphant Olympic time for Prime Minister Shinzo Abe.
The ship was evacuated previous month.
The quantity of domestic infections has increased to 1,149 cases, NHK said, including 10 new infections in Osaka.
