End in Sight for Flights to Nowhere
Flights to nowhere are anticipated to come to a finish as people who've been fully vaccinated can resume limited travel abroad next month.

According to the Korea Customs Service on Monday, 15,983 persons took flights to nowhere that started last December. A complete of 152 flights were offered and each carried around 105 passengers typically.

The flights, which landed where they started after cruising around foreign airspace for two to three hours, were expanded from Incheon International Airport to Gimpo, Gimhae and Daegu airports.

Passengers circled over Japan and neighboring countries before flying back again to Korea and bought W22.8 billion worth of duty-free products, spending on average W1.42 million per person (US$1=W1,118). That's 10 times a lot more than the average W140,000 spent by a domestic passenger in 2019.

Passengers bought W6.1 billion worth of cosmetics, W4 billion worth of handbags and W2.5 billion worth of perfume. In 2019, 28 million domestic passengers purchased W4.05 trillion worth of products.
