Ex-Egypt Coach Breaks Silence On Alleged Issues With Salah
25 September, 2021
Recently sacked Egypt coach Hossam El-Badry has responded to claims that he never got along with captain Mohamed Salah.
El-Badry was sacked as head coach last month after the side's shaly start to the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifying.
There were rumours of El-Badry not getting along with the Liverpool star during his reign, but he was quick sqaush those claims in his first interview since his sacking.
“There were no problems between me and Mohamed Salah at all. I spoke to him not long ago. It was said that Salah was demanding some players to be called-up, and this is of course not true,” El-Badry told Abu Dhabi TV, as per KingFut.
“How do they say that my relationship with Salah is bad, and he was named captain with me? How do they say that the big players were angry at Salah for being captain when the likes of Hegazi and Abdallah El-Said were always present and played hard.
“The decision to give Salah the captain’s armband was because the captain of the national team must be present constantly on the pitch, in addition to what Mohamed Salah has achieved in terms of international stardom.
"When you look at the other old names in the team such as El-Sulya and El-Said, they are constantly in the team, but sometimes they might not play some matches."
