Fresh BMW Combustions 'Not Caused by Faulty Valve'

The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport on Tuesday said that a fresh spate of spontaneous combustions of BMWs were not caused by defects in the exhaust gas recirculation valve, unlike last year's.
"We conducted an investigation of six recent cases of BMW fires and found that each was a different model, and fires were caused by different reasons," the ministry said.
One, the 328i, was a gasoline model that does not have the offending EGR at all, and three had already been recalled for the previous problem and fixed.
The ministry will conduct an additional investigation to find out the exact causes.
