Gap creates sustainability tool in partnership with Textile Exchange
11 September, 2020
Gap Inc. is developing a new Preferred Fiber Toolkit - a reference to help the apparel industry achieve sustainability goals.
Created together with global nonprofit Textile Exchange, the brand new tool is made for use simply by sourcing and design groups to inform companies on interacting with their sustainability desired goals. The Toolkit will be publicly available to help produce healthier communities while better guarding the planet.
The Toolkit provides a clear path to create alignment across sourcing, including an analysis of raw materials choices that build upon quantitative data inputs from the Sustainable Apparel Coalition’s Higg Products Sustainability Index.
"The development of the Preferred Fiber Toolkit has been crucial to Gap Inc's capability to set goals and develop internal awareness on how to create better goods and set fiber strategies," Diana Rosenberg, the company's product sustainability manager, commented in a assertion. "A rigorous and data-driven way allows for greater confidence inside our sustainable resources sourcing decisions, while creating a motivation to select more planet-friendly raw materials."
