Erling Braut Halaand bagged his eighth goal in five Bundesliga games as Borussia Dortmund thumped Eintracht Frankfurt 4-0 on Friday evening.
Dortmund made two changes from the medial side that lost in the seven-goal thriller against Bayer Leverkusen, as Lukasz Piszczek returned to skipper the medial side in defence while Thorgan Hazard was also recalled.
Lacien Favre's charges almost took an early on lead in the ninth minute after Raphael Guerreiro hit an excellent free-kick that crashed against the crossbar.
The game exposed after that and Dortmund eventually broke the deadlock in the 33rd minute after Piszczek latched onto a cross by Achraf Hakimi and fired in to the back of the net from close range.
Hakimi came near doubling the lead for Dortmund on the stroke of half-time after going clear on goal from a counter-attack but he struck his effort over the bar.
The hosts had a flying begin to the next stanza as Jadon Sancho doubled the lead four minutes following the break with a neat strike into the bottom corner after being setup by Axel Witsel.
Erling Haaland added a third for Dortmund on 54 minutes with a strike from close range to take his tally to eight league goals in five games since joining the club in January.
Favre's troops were threatening to go rampant plus they eventually bagged a fourth goal with 16 minutes remaining after Guerreiro fired home a rocket from outside the box.
Dortmund came near to bagging a fifth goal with eight minutes left after Guerreiro also unleashed a robust strike fro range but his effort was smothered by Eintracht goalkeeper Kevin Trapp as the face ended 4-0 to send Dortmund up to second spot.
