High class Competition Eats into Tesla's EV Market Lead
Tesla's dominance in Korea's electric vehicle marketplace is slowly eroding as the slower competition catches up.

Sales of electric power Porsches and Mercedes-Benzes have been rising. Carisyou Data Lab analyzed car sign up data and discovered that 4,351 imported electric vehicles were sold in Korea from January to April, up two percent from this past year.

Tesla even now accounted for 3,308 of them, but that was straight down 18.8 percent over the time, while other brands soared 450 percent.

Porsche sold 493 electric power Taycan 4Ss this season, and Mercedes-Benz 242 EQC electric powered SUVs. Mercedes offers been offering a low cost of W10 million since March, which includes increased sales. Peugeot also sold 94 e-2008 SUVs, Audi 70 e-tron 55 SUVs and BMW 60 i3s (US$1=W1,129).

As most of them retail at over W90 million, they aren't qualified to receive a government subsidy, however the charging infrastructure and increasing consumer interest mean the luxury electric car marketplace is growing.

More overseas brands hit the Korean market in the second half of this year. Mercedes' large electric powered EQS sedan, BMW's iX electric SUV and Audi's e-tron GT electric sports car are set to be introduced here at more than W100 million, but they desire to target the little and rich who are thinking about high performance and long driving array.
