Hyundai to start out on New Skyscraper After Epic Delay
Automotive giant Hyundai will break ground in the next month or two on a fresh headquarters building in Samseong-dong, Seoul.

Construction of the 569-m skyscraper have been delayed since 2014 over concerns that it could obstruct military aircraft functions over the capital since it is situated near Seoul Air Base in Seongnam, Gyeonggi Province.

Hyundai eventually yielded to demands from the military to cover a fresh radar for the Air Force including the expense of establishing, operating and maintaining it, according to a government source.

The tower is scheduled to be completed in 2026. It has seven basement floors and 105-stories to rival the 555-m Lotte Tower, which can be in the affluent Gangnam area of southern Seoul.
