Joe Biden calls for 'urgent action' on stimulus as US unemployment spikes
Joe Biden, the president-elect said Friday's "grim" jobs report displays the economic restoration is stalling and warned the "dark winter" in advance would exacerbate the pain unless the US Congress passes a good coronavirus relief expenses immediately.

"The problem requires urgent actions," Mr Biden explained in a affirmation. "Americans need help plus they need it now."

A government report earlier in the day demonstrated the labour industry slowing in November amid a surge of Covid-19 cases.

Mr Biden, the Democratic former vice president, offered support for an emerging bipartisan program of around $908 billion which has drawn tentative support from customers of both get-togethers in Congress.

But he said the bill would be "just the beginning" and vowed to press for additional pain relief once he takes office in January.

The president-elect has focused heavily on the pandemic and economy during the transition, after a campaign where he produced President Donald Trump's mishandling of the coronavirus a central theme.

He is likely to name Jeff Zients, a good co-chair of his changeover and a former National government economic aide, seeing that his coronavirus "tsar" to co-ordinate the government's pandemic response and oversee a great ambitious vaccine distribution effort, according to a good person familiar with the matter.

Before this week, he unveiled his financial workforce, led by his nominee for Treasury secretary, former Federal Reserve Seat Janet Yellen.

Mr Biden's options for top roles thus far have included some ground-breaking picks, including Ms Yellen, who would be the first female Treasury secretary; Neera Tanden, who be the first female of colour to run any office of Management and Spending budget; and Cecilia Rouse, who would be the first Dark female to oversee the Council of Economic Advisers.

Transition spokeswoman Jen Psaki told reporters on Friday that Mr Biden would announce even more positions early in a few days, including participants of his public health team.

Meanwhile, Vice President Mike Pence was going to Georgia on Friday, where he was acquiring a briefing in the pandemic at the Atlanta headquarters of the Centres for Disease Control and Prevention before going to a rally with Republican US senators David Perdue and Kelly Loeffler, who face January runoff elections that will determine control of the US Senate.

Mr Trump, a good Republican who has still refused to concede to Mr Biden, is scheduled to headline a good rally with Perdue and Loeffler on Saturday.
