Koeman Addresses Messi Goal Drought
20 October, 2020
With Lionel Messi has scored only once for FC Barcelona so far this year following his controversial transfer saga, Ronald Koeman has addressed the Argentine's insufficient goals.
The 33-year-old has struggled for goals lately, having struck only once so far this season, from the penalty spot.
While one goal in four matches is probably not alarming, Messi can be on a seven-game streak of failing woefully to score from open play.
Koeman, however, is seemingly not concerned about his captain's form before goal, saying he does not have any concerns over the six-time Ballon d'Or winner's performances.
"Seeing him on a daily basis, I've seen that he's happy," the Dutch tactician said, according to Barca Blaugranes.
"He's training well, he's concentrated, he wants to play and he wants to be the captain of the team. I haven't got any complaints.
"He's a great player and normally he puts it between your posts. The last matches have been complicated, so I haven't any doubts about his performance.
"Let's observe how he does. We have two complicated suits and we'll observe how he gets on."
