Lingard Names Nine Stars He Studied
Manchester United star Jesse Lingard has named nine superstars he was raised idolising, including three FC Barcelona legends.

The 27-year-old came through the ranks at the Red Devils, and lastly became a normal in the senior squad in 2015, following loan spells at Brighton & Hove Albion and Derby County.

In a recent interview, Lingard revealed which footballers inspired him when he was a young child, and his answer included current Barcelona captain Messi.

"I used to watch famous brands Ronaldinho, Iniesta and Messi. But obviously coming through the club, I used to view Giggsy, Scholesy, Becks, Butty, the Nevilles, the Class of '92," he told United's official website.

"I used to watch all the videos of these seasons at home therefore i had a really good knowledge of how they played.

"They were all British players plus they reached the most notable and won trophies, so that it was really inspiring for me personally to look at that at a age and I thought, 'I'm young, but eventually I'm going to be in their position and I need to know how they do it'. So I'd say the Class of '92 were an inspiration for me at that young age.

"Obviously, you watch players and try to take something from their game to yours. Each player individually has their own talent and ability.

"You can view players and take different elements of people's game and try and add them into yours. Sometimes I watch Messi off the ball and observe how sharp he is."

Lingard has represented United's senior side on 202 occasions to date, adding to 51 goals on the way.
