Malaysia PM Muhyiddin reiterates that he'll advise king to dissolve parliament once pandemic is over
Malaysian prime minister Muhyiddin Yassin reiterated found on Monday (Mar 1) that he'll dissolve parliament after the COVID-19 pandemic has ended.

In a speech taking stock of his twelve months in office, he explained: “The main focus of the government currently is to steer this country clear of the double whammy of health insurance and economic crises. After the pandemic has ended, which I hope will be very soon, I will suggest the Yang di-Pertuan Agong to dissolve the Parliament.”

“Until such time, my colleagues found in the Cabinet and I will continue steadily to perform our duties and tasks to the best of our ability.”

He added that whenever the election is held, it'll be left to the people to decide if the Perikatan Nasional (PN) authorities should be re-elected.

“You are absolve to choose and that's what democracy is all about,” he said.

Mr Muhyiddin’s speech also touched on different governance issues, including plans to spur economic recovery in 2021, alongside careers creation and strengthening the digital economy. 

The prime minister said that Malaysia's' economic position is expected to improve in 2021. Regarding to January projections by the International Monetary fund and Globe Bank, Malaysia's market is likely to grow at 7 per cent and 6.7 % respectively, he said.
