Malaysia reports 317 new COVID-19 cases, highest daily rise

Malaysia reported an archive daily increase in novel coronavirus cases for the next day in a row on Saturday (Oct 3), with 317 new infections.
Malaysia has reported a complete of 12,088 cases. The health ministry also recorded one new death, raising the full total to 137.
Three new clusters were also identified, the country's Ministry of Health added.
Two are in Kedah, recognized as the Bah Lunas and Bah Rose clusters, as the third, referred to as the Jelok cluster, is in Selangor.
The Bah Lunas cluster was detected in Kulim, Health Director-General Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said, adding that the initial case had travelled to Sabah.
“The 35-year-old man was tested positive on Sep 30 and admitted to the Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital, Kedah," he said throughout a press conference on Saturday.
"Following that, close contact screenings were completed and three more COVID-19 positive cases were identified.
“All of the positive cases from the cluster involved locals plus they were also admitted to the Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital."
The source of infection was still under investigation, he said.
Within the cluster, 112 individuals were screened, he added. Of these, four tested positive, 21 tested negative and 87 remain awaiting results.
