We are not power crazy, say Pakatan Harapan leaders because they seek a common floor for PM candidate
Malaysia’s opposition parties have denied that they are vitality crazy for their try to wrest back control on parliament, adding that Pakatan Harapan (PH) and its allies must work at a common surface to reclaim electoral mandate.

The statement, jointly issued by Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) president Mohamad Sabu and Democratic Action Party (DAP) secretary-general Lim Guan Eng on Mon (Jun 22), came amid a notable difference of judgment within PH over the individuals for the prime minister post.

“We've been criticised for not really quickly regaining our rightful federal government and yet when we find the only realistic route still left for success we will be criticised as power crazy. That is unfair because while we are not afraid to maintain opposition, the rakyat (people) voted for us in 2018 to be in government,” the affirmation read.

PH was voted into Putrajaya in the 2018 general election with Dr Mahathir at the helm, however the administration collapsed in February immediately after Mr Muhyiddin Yassin led Bersatu out of your coalition. Mr Muhyiddin, who's supported by Barisan Nasional and Parti Islam Se-Malaysia, was sworn in as Malaysia’s eighth primary minister top rated the Perikatan Nasional (PN) pact.

PH, which finds itself as being the opposition coalition once again, was strategising its movements to come back to federal power but reached a good stalemate when component parties and their allies could not agree more than the candidacy for premiership.

Amanah and DAP were in favour of taking Dr Mahathir Mohamad rear as primary minister, with Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) president Anwar Ibrahim due to his deputy, after Mr Anwar didn't convince the ruling point out coalition in Sarawak to back again him for the most notable post.

PKR, however, offers rejected the choice and insisted that Mr Anwar ought to be the primary minister if the coalition recaptures Putrajaya.

“Both DAP and Amanah been employed by strenuously during the last three weeks to discover a common ground acceptable to all but unfortunately it has not been successful.

“We trust that PKR and Tun (Mahathir) as well as Warisan will not drift further apart but instead continue to move closer collectively. Seeing one another as rivals rather than allies will not support the rakyat’s (people’s) reason and only help those who efficiently deposed an elected federal government with an unelected one,” the assertion read. Warisan refers to Parti Warisan Sabah.

“Only when we all have been on the same page together may we make sure that PH may reclaim the rakyat’s federal government,” it added.

Disclosing the inner discussions leading to them choosing Dr Mahathir more than Mr Anwar, Amanah and DAP explained they have been constantly supporting Mr Anwar since the prime minister as 1998 and will continue to do so.

However, the just realistic option of victory in today's political scenario is definitely to combine the effectiveness of all five celebrations, specifically PKR, Amanah and DAP in PH together with Warisan and Dr Mahathir’s faction of Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu), they added.

“This political journey has taken 22 years, we are able to afford to wait another six months to see Datuk Seri Anwar installed as the 10th prime minister of Malaysia. The half a year transition will be documented in writing, signed by all get together leaders and publicly announced,” the statement read.

In their Monday statement, Amanan and DAP said despite the fact that Dr Mahathir, Warisan and PKR cannot trust each other, all parties must try to look for a common ground to recuperate the electoral mandate gained in the 2018 general election.

The two parties said they are finding your way through snap polls while continue to be the “people’s voice and defender” at the time of an economic crisis caused by the pandemic.

“We will also mobilise our get together machinery to prepare for the probability of snap general elections and work together with all political parties against the PN authorities,” the statement read.

WE CAN NOT TRUST MAHATHIR 100 %: ANWAR
Individually, Mr Anwar, in a Facebook Go on Sunday, revealed that we now have factors of distrust among PH more than Dr Mahathir being the coalition’s candidate for the prime minister post once again.

He said the very fact that an arrangement needed to be signed for Dr Mahathir in which to stay power for half a year meant there is suspicion.

“We already had encounter, so we cannot trust (him) 100 %,” he explained, adding that Dr Mahathir had delayed the handover of the prime minister job to him following 2018 elections, despite the fact that an agreement was set up.
Mr Anwar said it will be very hard for him to take on the deputy primary minister content with Dr Mahathir in the helm.

“I joked with my friends, how long must I suffer? Enough will do," he said.

Mr Anwar was formerly Dr Mahathir's deputy primary minister in the 1990s beneath the prior Barisan Nasional administration. He was sacked by Dr Mahathir in 1998 and was jailed for corruption and sodomy, expenses he maintained were politically motivated.
