Man City End Chelsea's Unbeaten Run

Manchester City handed Chelsea their first Premier League defeat of the season with a 1-0 triumph on Saturday afternoon.

The Citizens handed Kevin De Bruyne and Phil Foden their first league starts of the season, as Chelsea welcomed back goalkeeper Edouard Mendy and fullback Reece James.
The latter’s outing didn’t go the full haul after a foot niggle following a quiet opening saw him carried off the pitch and Brazilian international Thiago Silva brought on.
City provided the Blues no space to manoeuvre inside the closing spell of the first half, as De Bruyne scooped a shot outside the area high and wide after carving a yard of space.
It was the Citizens at full speed with five minutes to halftime after Gabriel Jesus brought a ball in the area under control before going way past the actual target with a rash effort.

As the second half started, the English champions continued to dominate and made the breakthrough 52 minutes in after Jesus shielded Jorginho from a short corner-kick to bundle home.
Chelsea continued to chase shadows, and Jesus should’ve had his brace with a low first-time shot from a loose ball in the area midway in the second half, but Silva cleared off the line.
At the other end, Chelsea thought they had gone level from a tap-in by Romelu Lukaku after being played through by Kai Havertz but the goal was chalked off for offside.
The Citizens maintained dominance despite the Blues showing a fight, as Jack Grealish got in-between the defence from a loose pass to bring Mendy to a save with a first-time strike.
Thus, the latter minutes became comfortable for the Citizens who in the end reigned victors and furthermore avenged last season’s UEFA Champions League final loss against the Blues.
