Man City Humble High-Flying Brighton

Manchester City proved too strong for Brighton and Hove Albion after claiming a 4-1 win at the AMEX Stadium on Saturday evening.

City made two changes from the side that did duty in the UEFA Champions League this week as Gabriel Jesus and Ilkay Gundogan were handed starts in place of Riyad Mahrez and Kevin de Bruyne.
The Citizens got the opening goal on 13 minutes, as Brighton goalkeeper Robert Sanchez was unable to hold on to's Phil Foden strike, which Bernardo Silva to pounce and played Gundogan who fired home from closer range.
The second goal for the defending champions arrived on 28 minutes as a swift counter-attack ended with Jack Grealish picking Foden for the close-range effort.
A few minutes later, Jesus got his name on the scoresheet with a deflected cross from close range as City were too much for Graham Potter's charges.
After disappointing first half, Brighton hand to wait until the 55th minute for a first shot on target when Ederson was called upon to deny Leandro Trossard from close range.
Brighton had the momentum in the second half as Pep Guardiola's charges were forced to sit back and defend the pressure in their own half.
The hosts were given a lifeline after being awarded a penalty for Ederson's foul on Enock Mwepu, which allowed Alexis McAllister to convert despite the best efforts of the Brazilian shot-stopper.
The Seagulls almost made things interesting soon afterwards when Taariq Lamptey went close with a strike after surging his past way a few challenges, but his effort went wide of the mark.
However, City rounded off the scoring in second-half stoppage time as Foden teed up Mahrez who took a touch before firing past Sanchez in the box.
